land governane

This publication features the key provisions on land (governance) in recent relevant international frameworks including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs), the New Urban Agenda (Habitat III), the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security (VGGT), the Framework and Guidelines on Land Policy in Africa (F&G) and the Guiding Principles on Large- Scale Land-Based Investment in Africa (LSLBI Principles).

It presents where new issues or themes appeared, issues that have gained additional support and those that have received less attention in all these international frameworks. It also highlights the particularities, strengths and potential gaps of the individual frameworks, as well as their similarities, complementarities and differences. It further emphasizes the critical role of land governance in the realization of human rights, enjoyment of secure land
rights and in the overall achievement of sustainable development objectives.

CLIMATE CHANGE INTERVENTIONS AS A SOURCE OF CONFLICT, COMPETING CLAIMS AND NEW MOBILITIES
Increasing the resilience of communities and cities in the South

This conference aims to better understand the impacts of climate change-related investments, exploring how to prevent and resolve conflicts, in cities as well as in urbanizing and rural areas. It is co-organized by NWO, IDS-Utrecht and LANDac, and will bring together academics, policy makers, practitioners and private sector actors interested in making climate interventions more conflict sensitive and fit for purpose, taking social realities as their point of departure. In addition to bringing together the outcomes of the various CCMCC projects, we hope to broaden the discussion by inviting others to collaborate.

tsli reportThis publication is the summary of the Proceedings of the Land Tenure Tools Knowledge Sharing Workshop took place on 26 May 2017 as a post-event of the IFAD ESA RIW 2017 in Kampala, Uganda. The workshop brought together key project stakeholders - the staff and beneficiaries of IFAD-supported projects and programmes in Eastern and Southern Africa - to reflect, share key achievements and lessons learnt, and to chart the way forward.

During the workshop, participants shared their tenure challenges and experiences in using some of the GLTN tools for strengthening security of land and natural resource tenure of poor people and vulnerable groups. The meeting served as an avenue to discuss existing good practices and appropriate land tools and their possible applications to specific country contexts. The participants also identified opportunities to scale up lessons learning and sharing, pilot new approaches and tools and strengthen policy dialogues.
