UN-Habitat/GLTN in collaboration the Land Policy Initiative (LPI), a joint programme of the tripartite consortium consisting of the African Union Commission (AUC), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), and the African Development Bank (AfDB) will co-organize a drafting and expert review workshop to develop ‘Guidelines for Development of Curricula on Land Governance in Africa’. The workshop scheduled to take place in Nairobi from 21-27 September, 2016 will bring together think tanks and a team of experts in land governance, curricula development and training from universities and institutions of higher learning. Expert reviewers will then examine the draft and improve it prior to submitting it to a broader stakeholder group for review.
The aim of the resulting guidelines will be to facilitate development and review of land governance curricula to ensure that university graduates and land professionals are better skilled to address Africa’s land governance challenges. Immediate beneficiaries of the guidelines will be members of the Network on Land Governance in Africa (NELGA), which is being established by LPI with support from the German government.
